Founded on May 18, 1976, at NAS Alameda, Bay Island Officials Association (BIOA) has proudly served the community for nearly five decades. What began in Alameda as a passionate group committed to excellence in officiating has grown into a trusted organization providing referee and umpire services across the Bay Area. Our association specializes in officiating a wide range of sports, including basketball, softball, soccer, American football, baseball, and volleyball. BIOA supports Adult Sports, High School athletics, and Recreational leagues helping ensure fair play, integrity, and professionalism on every field and court we step onto. As we’ve expanded beyond Alameda into surrounding communities, our commitment to upholding the highest standards in officiating has never wavered. We’re more than just officials, we’re ambassadors of the game, dedicated to supporting athletes, coaches, and leagues with reliable, consistent, and knowledgeable officiating that enhances the spirit of competition at every level.
